This number is now expected to reach nearly 50% by 2030. The demand for natural health foods are on the rise. More consumers are demanding organic foods and products be available in locals stores and markets. There is a rise, a revolution in America for natural health, organic food information, resources and news that educate, inform and help individuals and families create wellness and healthier lifestyles.

U.S. sales of organic products were an estimated $28.4 billion in 2012—over 4 percent of total food sales—and will reach an estimated $35 billion in 2014, according to the Nutrition Business Journal.

Today there are growing concerns about GMOs (genetically modified organisms), quality of air, water, soil, education and quality of living let alone war, and rising consumer prices. Today’s stress-filled world often leads to poor physical and mental health. Many people are choosing to grow their own gardens as a way to ensure food quality and cut down on food bills. People are seeking ways to ensure their health and longevity. With rising hospital costs families want to stay away from health debt. Baby boomers are looking to organic foods and exercise  as means to help ensure a longer, healthier life.

The US Natural Label Battle – How Natural became Fraud

eatyourmedicine_riasweetrawYears ago natural meant healthy but large corporations have used the tern ‘natural’ loosely to market and package foods that contain little to no nutrients or live enzymes to assist the body’s ability to heal, rejuvenate or restore wellness. There is much controversy, debate and advocacy in many states for the labeling of foods so consumers can properly choose foods that benefit their health and family’s well being.

Organic Non GMO means Natural

Today there is much confusion over why organic foods are superior to regular grocery store fruits and vegetables. Many people remain skeptical whether organic and non gmo (genetically modified organisms) foods are valid and worthy of higher prices or consumer attention. When I reveal my age,however, the shock on peoples faces warrant an explanation and I usually boast that it’s not just my good genes, but my twenty plus years on ‘natural’ ‘organic’ foods and lifestyle. I have been practicing the natural health lifestyle since my senior year in high school and have researched and adopted this natural self lifestyle into every fabric of my life. Natural food is not a luxury but a necessity and even basic to our survival as thriving, conscious, fully alive, healthy human beings. (ria sweetraw ) 

Natural foods that are Organic and Non GMO are rich in vitamins, minerals and nutrients providing the body energy and healing power. Natural foods are whole foods unlike processed foods made or manufactured in labs and factories. Natural foods are organic and non gmo. These foods can be purchased in health food grocery stores or seeded in your own garden or local community co-op garden. Natural foods are the best food choice to maintain healthy mind, body and spirit.  These foods help the body to heal, increase mortality, longevity,  ageless beauty and vitality.

Alkaline vs Acidic Foods

When you alkalize your blood by eating foods that are less acidic in pH you are minimizing an environment for disease within your body. A persons normal blood pH level should be between 7.35 to 7.45, anything below these numbers promote disease, organ decay and a hosts of pathogens.  Acidic forming foods inhibit the body’s ability to heal, produce new cells, fight bacteria and infection, and absorb nutrients, vitamins and minerals.  For proper restorative health and wellness, a pH balance should be averaging at 80% alkaline and 20% acidic forming foods.

 


Balance is Key!  – Soul, Mind and Body! 

Traditional Chinese Medicine practice moderation in all things. It is believed that even a good thing in excess becomes its polar opposite. This philosophy extends to daily life, our habits, vices, pleasures, austerities and distractions. Too much of a good thing can become a bad thing seems elementary but its good common sense. It’s imperative we find balance in all we do and make living in balance a priority and focus. Our bodies can not live on excises alone, we have to feed our cells and organs with whole foods that support wellness and life. It further produces modes and emotions that can last seconds, months or years of our lives. Nothing is separate but each action, thought, and deed is like a ripple upon a river and that river leading to an ocean. Everything is connected and thus we must seek balance  as key to our happiness, wellness and overall quality of life.

Wellness and Longevity

Wellness is a wholsitic approach to health including exercise and fitness, quality foods that provide nutrients and vitamins, high vibration emotional and mental health and loving supportive relationships. All of these factors affect longevity  and the quality of one’s life.

Exercise

Exercising 30 minutes a day was a standard philosophy for many years, today due to sedentary lifestyles, the most beneficial results for exercise has been increased to 60 minutes a day. Americans are more obese than any nation on the planet consuming more ’empty’ calories from junk foods, cut public fitness programs, increased quality food prices, and faster lifestyles. 30 – 60 minutes of daily exercise help decrease the obesity crisis and ensure emotional, mental and physical wholstic wellness.

Rest & Relaxation

More than 30% of the population suffers from sleep disorders, 50% are non-Hispanic Blacks, 40% ages 20-59 years old, according to CDC reports which effect “unhealthy behaviors.” The reports and facts are startling. Today ‘rest’ seems to be more of a luxury. Natural sleep and relaxation seems more of an art form then common practice. Yet these are primary component of overall wellness and quality of health. The body must restore itself and this process of rejuvenation occurs at night during NREM (non rapid eye movement) of sleep the deepest most restorative sleep which lowers blood pressure, repairs cells and tissues, restores energy, and increases growth hormones.

Happiness & Gratitude

Happiness and gratitude work at the emotional and mental bodies. How you feel determines your overall mood and vibration. If you are in a higher vibration you directly effect your cells, heart, blood, brain function and nervous systems which effects everything else. It is a reciprocal relationship. Living in a higher state of joy prolongs life expectancy.
